Larry Leffelman - Owner/Agent
After graduating from Northern Illinois University in 1960 with a Bachelor’s in Accounting, Larry starting working for a real estate/ insurance office called LJ Welch in Dixon. He was drafted in March of 1962 and joined the National Guard 6 months after that. After completing Officer Candidate School (OCS), he moved to Dixon and then Mendota and worked for the Insurance Company of North America. After that, he worked for Union Insurance Group (now Signa) in Bloomington. In 1969, Larry started Leffelman and Associates in Sublette, Illinois. He has been married to his wife, Rose, for over 51 years. They have 3 daughters (Jenny, Chris, and Amy) and 11 grandchildren. Hobbies include golfing and freecell and favorite sport teams are the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox.
Rose Leffelman - CSR/Bookkeeping
Rose started working for Leffelman & Assoc. in 1977. She graduated from LaMoille High School in 1958. After graduation, she worked in Mendota as a telephone operator and then at H.D. Conkey Co. as a receptionist/stenographer. After she and Larry were married and moved to Dixon, she worked at Dixon National Bank. They next moved to Mendota, then Bloomington/Normal for a few years before moving back to this area. She and Larry have 3 daughters and 11 grandchildren. Her favorite pasttimes are gardening/landscaping, reading, working on home decorating, and crafting.
Chris Klein - Agent
Chris started working in the family business when she was around 12 years old. She kept her part-time job all through high school and college. However, after a catastrophic hail storm in 1985, the agency needed someone full-time, and she decided she wanted the position. She earned her insurance license in 1989, her CIC designation in 1996, and AFIS designation in 2012. She has been a 4-H leader for the past 10 years, is on the Mendota Community Hospital Board of Directors, and has lead a guitar choir in three area churches for the past 30 years. She is a past Region 6 director for the IIA. She and her husband, Ed, have been married for 27 years, and are very proud of their 5 children (Nate, Valery, Lexi, Riley, and Grace). Two of which are veterans, and a third is still in the National Guard.
Gary Zinke - Agent
Gary started in the insurance business in 1969 as a claims representative with Country Companies. In 1980, Gary joined Larry Leffelman at Leffelman & Associates as an agent. Being very active in the Elks Lodge, Gary has been a Past Exalted Ruler and served as chairman of the board. Gary has been married to his wife, Janet, for over 45 years. They have 4 children (Kim, Brian, Chad, and Carrie) and 13 grandchildren. Gary likes to golf in his free time and watch the Chicago White Sox.
Linda Purvis - Agent-LaMoille
Linda started working for Leffelman & Associates in 1980 when she was hired to manage the LaMoille office. She received her insurance license in 1984. She assists with LaMoille’s Buffalo Days activities, and is a member/secretary of First Luthuran Church in Ohio. Linda has a son, Troy (wife Kim), and she enjoys spending time with her three lovely grandchildren. Other hobbies include golfing, scrapbooking, cooking, & traveling.
Lisa Quest - Agent-Amboy
Lisa started working for Leffelman and Associates in April of 1993 and earned her insurance license in February 1995. In 1997, Lisa started managing our Amboy office. She has her Associates of Arts degree from Illinois Valley Community College and also her CISR and AFIS insurance designations. Lisa has been married to her husband Troy for 19 years and they have two children (Damon, 16, and Mariah, 11). They also have a Yorkie named Lambeau. Lisa loves playing softball and volleyball in her spare time. Her favorite sports teams are Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, and the Fighting Illini.
Gary Jones - Agent-Amboy
Gary “Tank” graduated from Eureka College in 1976 with Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science. He started teaching physical education and coaching football in the Amboy school district in 1976. After working as an agent for Country Companies from 1985 to 1992, Tank started working for Leffelman and Associates in 1993. He is the head coach for the Amboy Clippers and enjoys many sports including golfing and watching the Green Bay Packers.
Julie Burkardt - Agent/CSR
Julie started working with Leffelman & Associates in 1997. Julie earned her insurance license in 1999 and her CISR insurance designation in 2005. Julie has been married to her husband Mike for over 30 years, and they have two daughters: Holly, grown and married; and Cassidy, who is currently a sophomore in College. In Julie’s spare time, she likes to read, cook, bake, and spend time with her family (especially her granddaughter Aubrey).
Tess Fleming - Agent
Tess became a licensed agent in 2005 and worked for Northwestern Mutual while in college. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing form Bradley University, she joined the agency full time in May 2007. She earned her CISR insurance designation in 2011 and was named the 2013 Illinois Outstanding CSR of the year. She has been published in Rough Notes magazine and is on the IIA Education Committee. Tess is married to her husband, Chris, and they live in Dixon with their four children (Daxton, Knox, Marlo, and Haven). Hobbies include reading, running, cooking, playing with her children, and watching the Green Bay Packers.
Lori Althaus - CSR/Bookkeeping-LaMoille
Lori started working at Leffelman & Associates part-time in April 1998 and earned her insurance license in 2007. Lori went to Tampico High School and attended Sauk Valley College where she earned her Associates in Secretarial. She lives on a farm outside of Sublette with her husband, Bill, whom she has been married to for 25 years. They have two children (Eric and Alyssa), and enjoy everything John Deere. Lori also likes reading and spending time with her family.
Lexi Klein - CSR/Bookkeeping
Lexi has been working for her family business since January of 2002. Lexi went to Amboy High School and joined the Army National Guard in May 2007. She obtained her Associates of Business degree at Sauk Valley Community College in May 2013 and obtaining her producer license in Fall 2013. Her hobbies include cooking, hanging with friends and family, and catching up on her Netflix.
Riley Klein - Agent
Riley is a 2014 graduate from the University of Illinois with a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture and Consumer Economics concentrating in Farm Management, along with a minor in Crop and Soil Management. Right after graduation, Riley obtained his insurance license and joined the family business in June 2014. He is a board member of the Lee County Fair Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Outside the office, he enjoys farming and raising livestock with his dad, hunting, golfing, and a good game of euchre amongst friends.
